Hello, I’m leespoons and I have the honour of welcoming you to the comp.sys.sinclair Crap Games Competition 2015!
The CSSCGC is an annual competition designed to showcase two things – the fantastic Sinclair ZX Spectrum computer, and the less-than-fantastic programming skills of its owners. It was the brainchild of Lee “Blood” Tonks who, inspired by the legendary Cassette 50, recruited the members of the comp.sys.sinclair newsgroup to come up with something worse*. And f*** my hat, they did!
Over a thousand crap entries later, including such delights as Erotic Pinball, Rosco the Cat Burglar in Cyprus Extraction and the ear-bleeding Bros: The Music Box (one of mine, that) and the competition is in its 20th year and going stronger than ever, which only goes to show what a bunch of saddoes we all are the appeal of Uncle Clive’s humble little black box, or something.
So enjoy the show, and here’s to another 20 years – by which time hopefully we’ll still be writing crap games on emulators implanted inside our heads while zooming around in flying cars like they promised us on The Jetsons.
